LICI APPOINTS NEW WAYS & MEAN CHIEF

December 12, 2022-Columbus, OH. The interim executive leadership of Liberians in Columbus Inc. appoints Mrs. Vera Famatta Mayson-Dossen as the new Ways & Mean Chief. Mrs. Mayson-Dossen has been a Columbus resident for 21-plus years and an active member of the Liberian community in Central Ohio. The newly appointed Chief holds a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration and has worked as a healthcare professional for over a decade. Before that, she worked as an IT support professional with the Ohio Department of Taxation for four years. In addition, Mrs. Mayson-Dorson brings years of community service experience from two well-known organizations in Liberia, YWCA and Women Initiative.
“Everything I know about the mission of LICI and what I’ve learned about this position has reinforced my desire to do the job,” said the new Chief. She also highlighted her abilities to work well in a team environment, solve complex problems, and learn in a fast-paced environment. The Ways & Means committee is a constitutional mandate. The committee’s goal is to create and implement the LICI Development Plan, lead all organizational fundraising efforts, and ensure that resource development includes grants, contributions, and gifts from various sources, in collaboration with the Development Committee. In addition, develop partnerships/relationships with other community organizations externally and internally to ensure that the organization is leveraging resources to meet its mission.
